What brought you to Nipissing University?
After graduating High School at West Kings in Auburn Nova Scotia, my father was posted to CFB Borden ON. I came to Nipissing University College to attend with my cousin and play sports together.
Tell us about your favourite Nipissing University experience?
Getting to know the Professors on a personal level and the small class sizes. Sports road trips to watch the Detroit Pistons play basketball every year for five seasons!
What impact has Nipissing University had on your life?
After graduation, I was able to join the Military as an Infantry Officer (1986) and eventually an Armoured Officer (1988). In 1992 I returned to Nipissing and transferred to the Military Police Branch commanding 26 Military Police Platoon. In 1998 I graduated from Teachers College and was hired shortly after by the NNDSB. In 2003, I was selected to Command 2 Military Police Company were I was responsible for all the Army Reserve Military Police in the province.
What are you up to now?
After 34 years with the Department of National Defence and 25 years of teaching Elementary School, I am now retired and supply teach with the NNDSB. I volunteer: coaching, with the Canadian Cadet Organization, instructing Athletics, Survival and Advance Aviation courses.
Current city of residence
Since 1975, I call North Bay home.
